Benjamin Mendy is back on the market after FC Zurich terminated his contract just months into a three-year deal.
The former Manchester City defender, signed for £52 million in 2017, failed to impress during his short stint in Switzerland.
Mendy joined Zurich in February 2024, with hopes of reviving his career, but poor form and injuries derailed those ambitions quickly.

He made just eight appearances for the Swiss side, prompting club president Ancillo Canepa to publicly criticise his performances last month.
Canepa noted that Mendy was mentally and physically unfit, conceded goals, got injured, and ultimately “played very badly.”
Despite the initial contract running until 2026, both parties agreed to terminate it early, ending Mendy’s time at the club, MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS
Zurich released a brief statement wishing Mendy well in his personal and professional future as he departs immediately.
Before Zurich, Mendy had a brief spell with French club Lorient, making only 15 appearances before also leaving early.
Since leaving Manchester City in 2023, Mendy has struggled to find stability or form at any club he joins.
His football decline follows legal battles—he was suspended in 2021 and later cleared of multiple rape allegations by 2023.
