Gyökeres arrived from Sporting CP last week in a deal worth up to €73.5 million, immediately linking up with Arsenal’s preseason tour in Singapore.
The powerful striker impressed Saliba during their clash last season, when Arsenal beat Sporting 5-1 in the Champions League.
“We know how good he is, it’s scary to play against him,” Saliba said. “I’m happy he’s now on our side. He’ll help us win.”
The French centre-back believes Gyökeres could be the final piece Arsenal need to break their silverware drought, having not lifted a trophy since the 2020 FA Cup.
“Our mindset is to win the Premier League,” Saliba added.
“We’ll give everything. Our new players can make the difference.”
Arsenal continue preseason in Asia, with a high-profile clash against Spurs in Hong Kong on the horizon.
Gyökeres is expected to begin training with the team this week, reports ESPN.
Saliba also hinted at progress in his contract talks, saying discussions are “positive” amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
