Despite showing serious interest, the Gunners couldn’t meet either club’s terms, marking a rare transfer setback in their otherwise aggressive summer strategy.
Rodrygo, valued at around €100 million, has reportedly fallen down the pecking order under new Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.
Still, Real Madrid have refused to sanction a sale, shutting down Arsenal’s hopes of adding the Brazilian winger to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
According to Cadena Ser, Arsenal sources revealed that waiting for Rodrygo to become available was “not viable” given current priorities, reports Football 365.
Simultaneously, Bild reports Arsenal also failed in their attempt to lure Palhinha from Bayern Munich due to complex financial demands.
Palhinha had previously been close to joining Bayern from Fulham and remains a wanted figure, but Bayern reportedly need sales before sanctioning exits.
With Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Christian Norgaard already signed, Arsenal are now focused on finalizing deals for Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres.
Negotiations for Gyokeres are progressing well, with only minor add-ons left to resolve, keeping Arsenal optimistic.
For now, Arsenal shift focus, leaving Rodrygo and Palhinha off their summer wishlist barring any late changes.
