Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights has asked prosecutors to investigate potential violations following a complaint from disability advocacy group ADEE.
The party took place in Olivella, near Barcelona, on July 12, a day before Yamal officially turned 18 years old.
ADEE condemned the use of people with dwarfism as entertainment, claiming it promotes harmful stereotypes and undermines disability rights and dignity.
The ministry emphasized its duty to protect rights, stating the complaint could indicate possible discrimination or exploitation based on physical characteristics.
A performer anonymously told Catalan station RAC1 that four individuals worked the party and were treated with full respect throughout.
They claimed ADEE’s actions harm their livelihoods and noted the organization hasn’t offered alternate work or training to affected performers, reports newarab.
The entertainers reportedly danced, served drinks, and performed magic, which they described as legitimate and enjoyable professional entertainment work.
Dominican rapper Chimbala, also of short stature, shared videos performing with Yamal, Gavi, and Alejandro Balde during the celebration.
Yamal, a Ballon d’Or candidate and Barcelona star, has yet to issue any statement in response to the ongoing investigation.
