The 25-year-old forward was United’s top target and ignored rival interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Chelsea.
Despite Brentford’s efforts to redirect him elsewhere and raise the fee, Mbeumo was determined to join the club he supported.
He said, “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity.”
Mbeumo added, “I wore their shirt growing up. This is my dream club, and I’m here to win and grow.”
Manchester United director Jason Wilcox praised Mbeumo’s consistency and said his belief in the club’s project made him a fit.
Wilcox said Mbeumo’s goal contributions made him “one of the most productive players in England over the last three seasons.”
United struggled in front of goal last season, scoring just 44 times, their lowest-ever Premier League tally since the rebrand, reports Mail Online.
Mbeumo joins the squad in Chicago this week for the pre-season tour and could debut against West Ham on Sunday.
With Amorim’s guidance and elite teammates, Mbeumo believes he can reach new heights and help United challenge for major honours.
