Manchester United have agreed a record £71m deal to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, with a medical set for the weekend.

The Red Devils had two earlier bids rejected but persisted, submitting a final offer of £65m plus £6m in add-ons.
Mbeumo chose United over Arsenal, Spurs, and Newcastle, pushing for the move early in the summer transfer window.
Brentford initially asked for £62.5m but raised their price after recent major Premier League transfers inflated the market.
The Cameroonian forward is Brentford’s record sale and enjoyed his best season yet, scoring 20 goals and assisting seven more in 2024/25.
He will add much-needed firepower to a United team lacking consistent goal contributions beyond Bruno Fernandes, reports Manchester World.
Dubbed “mini Mo Salah” by pundit Jason Cundy, Mbeumo operates off the right flank with a lethal left foot and bags of energy.
His direct style, creativity, and work rate are expected to thrive under Ruben Amorim’s high-intensity tactics.
Mbeumo will join United ahead of their US tour, which includes games against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.
With his signing imminent, Manchester United are showing real intent to rebuild their attack before the new season kicks off.
