The Sweden international was left out of the Magpies’ pre-season tour to South Korea, with the club citing a minor groin injury as the reason.
Despite reports claiming Isak wants to leave this summer, head coach Eddie Howe insisted there is “no chance” of the striker joining the team later in Asia.
Addressing the speculation, Howe stated: “We’d love him to continue his journey at Newcastle… I’m confident he’ll stay.
But it’s football — who knows what the future may bring.”
Isak has been the subject of transfer buzz with Liverpool reportedly preparing a British record bid, potentially accelerated by Luis Díaz’s expected move to Bayern Munich.
However, Howe emphasized that any decision will be made collectively by the club’s ownership and board, with the club’s long-term success in mind.
Isak’s groin issue, first reported before the Celtic match, is still being assessed in Newcastle, reports Newcastle World.
The 24-year-old has missed 39 games through injury since joining the Magpies, raising concerns for potential suitors despite his undeniable talent.
